AMERICAN PRINCESS has a new cover!
I loved the original cover, but a lot of folks—including me—thought there was that extra something about Alice that we still hadn’t captured. Alice was a force of nature, a bold and outspoken women in a time when it didn’t pay to be either. And she was a firecracker to boot!
That’s why this new cover is so perfect. I can’t wait until you getStephanie Thorntonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17437077559099315853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-518435482283008148.post-55583177576755537402018-07-23T11:42:00.000-08:002018-07-23T11:42:27.481-08:00
American Princess has a cover!
I love that Alice Roosevelt's verve comes through--I can just imagine her at a White House dinner party getting ready to light up a Lucky Strikes cigarette or pulling her pet snake, Emily Spinach, out of her purse.
Of course, pre-orders are always welcome and most appreciated!

My Review:
Hand of Fire is an expertly
researched book that blends both the history and mythology of the Trojan
War. I've always been intrigued by the character of Briseis, inspiring
as she did Achilles' temporary withdrawal from the fighting, and here
she comes to vivid life: her early years as a priestess of Stephanie Thorntonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17437077559099315853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-518435482283008148.post-70519561732527358162014-08-23T19:39:00.000-08:002014-08-23T19:39:36.169-08:00Yet Another Way I Torture Myself: Point of ViewI apparently like to torture myself by never writing the same style of book more than once. While all four of my novels focus on history's forgotten women, the way I've told those stories has differed from book to book.
The Secret History told Theodora's story from a first person point of view. Curses & Smoke by Vicky Alvear Shecter
My Review:
Curses
and Smoke is a book I would have loved to read in junior high or high
school, but that didn't stop me from devouring it even as an adult. The
story of Tag and Lucia's romance really heats up (sorry, couldn't
resist!) even as the signs of Vesuvius' imminent eruption make
themselves plain. The action never stops and by the end I was tearing
through pages, Stephanie Thorntonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17437077559099315853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-518435482283008148.post-49308899446903185402014-06-10T20:37:00.002-08:002014-06-10T20:37:45.631-08:00Tarot Cards, Guillotines, & Napoleon: Becoming Josephine by Heather Webb
My review: In Becoming Josephine, Heather Webb's marvelous debut has spun the tangled web of a lively and intriguing Josephine, carrying the reader through her early life in Martinique to her near-death escapes during the French Revolution's Terror, and finally to her tumultuous years married to the mercurial Napoleon Bonaparte.
