Announcing the Haiku Blogfest!

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds --
Your foot just squashed one.
- A cat's POV, compliments of Funny Haikus.)

I know a lot of you like blogfests, but don't have time to write a 500 word piece or you don't want to post excerpts from your WIP. I feel your pain. Some of you like to write poetry, but like me, you don't think you're very good at it. But haikus are a piece of cake, just three lines with 5, 7, and 5 moras respectively. Easy peasy!

What should your haiku be about? ANYTHING!

Okay, so my haiku is going to be about one of my novels, but you could haiku about a character or scene. It could be from one of your novels or maybe from another book you've read. Or really, anything!

When: Friday, September 3rd & Saturday, September 4th!

Sign up below! And feel free to spread the word- extra karma points for those who Twitter, blog, or Facebook about the Haiku Blogfest! Got questions? Leave them in the comments!

This sounds like a lot of fun! I am really not good at poetry, so it will be all the more challenging! Just don't let me forget!!

Amalia- Thanks for signing up- you get a gold star for being first! My poetry is pretty lame, but I think I can handle a haiku. I hope this will be a fun chance for people to highlight their work without having to post an excerpt.

Woo! Gold Star! :) Yeah, I think it sounds like a lot of fun. Now I just need to pick a book/character. MAYBE I will write more than one and torture everyone all the more. haha.

I'm abysmal with poetry, but it's only three lines, right? How bad could it be? Count me in!

Okay, I gonna sound like a total noob, but this is my first blogfest so I guess that's fair. Question is: Will I post the haiku at my blog? Another question is: Will there be voting or a winner chosen by the host or just haiku for fun?

*blush* So sorry, I'm learning as I go. But I love haiku, so I couldn't pass this up.

Stephanie Thornton said...

Yay! Thanks to all of you who've already signed up!

Cort Ellyn- The blogfest is just for fun, a way to meet new people and showcase your work in a nutshell. You'll post your haiku to your blog on September 3rd or 4th. Easy peasy! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sounds fun. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually thinking of a haiku for my MS. You must have fabulous powers of persuasion to cause that.

This sounds awesome! You're right, I never have time to do full-out blogfests, so this mini one is perfect!

I'll definitely participate and put up my haiku. :) Thanks!

Haiku is both easy, and incredibly difficult to do. ;-)

Do you go shasei or gendai for instance? ;-)
